The Gluten ID test does not require a blood draw. Instead, two swabs are used to collect cheek cells inside the mouth from which DNA will be extracted by the laboratory.
The laboratory uses a technology called next generation sequencing (NGS) for the Gluten ID test. Samples are batched and run weekly or bi-weekly resulting in a 7-14 day turn-around-time.
Once results have been emailed to the client, samples are de-identified and discarded by the laboratory.
