Dr. Shelly Gunn MD, PhD
With over 20 years experience studying the human genome, Dr. Shelly Gunn has dedicated her medical career to the analysis of specific genes as the root cause of disease and their response to therapy. A graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School, she served as an associate professor in the Department of Pathology before joining Combimatrix Molecular Diagnostics in Irvine, CA as their first Medical Director. Dr. Gunn is now Medical Director of PacificDx Laboratory in Irvine, CA and directs the Genomic Pathology division of Precision Pathology Services in San Antonio, TX.
Shortly after graduating the University of the South in Sewanee TN, Gibson found himself unable to continue his week as a licensed securities representative due to the severity of a mysterious system wide illness that defied accurate diagnosis or conventional treatment. The root cause and successful resolution of his symptoms only came after Dr. Gunn led an interdisciplinary team of physicians to discover the specific links between Gibson’s genetic profile and crippling autoimmune response. Their finding and innovative treatment were published in the American Journal of Case Reports in 2015 in a paper he coauthored with the team. He has brought his business and organizational skills to Targeted Genomics hoping to help others similarly affected by chronic disease.
